Bangkok Day 1

Bangkok, which means the City of Angels, is the capital and largest city of Thailand. As my company would be organising a conference over there next year at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, a team of us were sent there for a scouting trip – and therefore begins my little adventure in the Land of a Thousand Smiles. Although the whole of 1st day was packed with meetings and more meetings with our suppliers, we were finally rewarded with a dinner by one of our supplier in the outskirts of Bangkok City.

As the name said it all – The Good View Restaurant provides one of the best views for diners as they are seated next to Chao Phraya River while savouring their dinner. Along with that, Goodview restaurant also offer a large variety of Thai, Japanese and European food. One of my favourite dishes that night would be the appetiser that you simply cannot miss when you are in Thailand - The Thai Mango Salad.

What really caught my attention was that the salad also comes with a whole uncooked flower crab along with its orangey roe. However take a chomp and the sweetness of the crab meat will surely convince you that even having diarrhoea is simply worth it. Also a must in Bangkok is surely the Tom Yum Goong.

While the serving was rather pathetic that night, an authentic Thai Soup is simply a great way to start your dinner.

Although the Otah is nothing special, the huge chunk of spicy fish meat with Thai herbs is a good complement to your rice.

Highly recommended at the restaurant is the deep fried fish with chopped pandang leaf. The skin is fried crispy, and the meat is not too dry even though it is fried golden brown.

To round off the wonderful dinner for the night, go for the yum balls in coconut milk.
